Description

This solar powered sign light system consists of two 288 LED lamps capable of providing 2304 Lumens each. Perfect for large sign lighting applications and double sided signs. Supplied with solar panel, and MPPT charge controller.

This system comprises of two light fittings, each containing 288 Cree® SMD type LEDs which emit 2304 Lumens. Supplied as standard, the lights will typically illuminate dusk to dawn for most of the year, and up to 8 hours in the winter months. If dusk to dawn illumination is required throughout the year, a higher powered solar panel and/or larger capacity batteries will be required. The kit is supplied with the floodlights, a metal battery box, a programmable MPPT charge controller, and two 180 Watt solar panels along with mounting brackets. The system requires two 12 Volt rechargeable batteries (not included). The lockable battery box is supplied with an on/off switch and outlets for the solar panel and light fixtures to plug in to. When the system is in the on position the light will turn on automatically at sunset and will stay illuminated until the set amount of time. The charge controller can be programmed to illuminate from dusk to dawn, turn off after a certain amount of hours, or it can use a dual timer option. The dual timer allows the light to activate at dusk and illuminate for X hours, switch off, and then turn back on for X hours prior to sunrise. The solar panel and light fixtures are supplied with several meters of cable, so they can be mounted away from the battery box if needed. Colour of light fitting is black. Colour of other parts of the system is grey. Colour of light output is white.

Applications
 

Perfect for applications that require lighting without any near-by electricity. This sign light can be used for many different types of signs, ranging from billboards, entrance signs, business signs, or any other similar applications. It can be used for doubled sided signs, medium sized signs, or for smaller signs that require high light intensity. It can be used for up-lighting or area lighting. We offer an optional long support arm kit for this system (product code FL11) allowing the sign light to be mounted out in front of a sign or billboard for enhanced illumination coverage.

Illumination time is typically dusk to dawn for most of the year, and up to 8 hours in the winter.
If dusk to dawn illumination is required year-round, a higher powered solar panel and a larger capacity battery will be required.

Luminaire

Each lampshade is fitted with a 'U' shape mounting bracket.

Battery
Two 12 Volt 55 Amp/Hr sealed lead acid batteries are required (not included).

Battery Box
A remote battery box is supplied to accommodate the batteries, and charge controller.
The battery box has a hinged lid which is lockable (padlock not included).
The battery box has a receptacle (socket) for the solar panel, and each light to connect to.
The metal battery box is approx. 46cm x 36.5cm x 28.4cm (18.12” x 14.38” x 11.18”) LxWxD.
Dimensions including lid over-hang and side flanges are approx. 51cm x 39cm x 28.4cm (21.25” x 15.38” x 11.18”) LxWxH.

Solar Panel
180 Watt aluminium framed solar panel.
Higher powered solar panel options may be available. For help determining whether a solar panel upgrade is necessary, please contact our customer service department.
Supplied with approximately 5m (17') of cable to connect directly to the battery box.
Additional cable or extension cords are available.
Two special mounting frames are included to allow the solar panel to attach to a vertical or horizontal surface with two hole pre-drilled into each section of the frame.

Control Module
Supplied with a MPPT charge controller which automatically controls the solar panel power, battery charging and lighting function and operation.
Ultra fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT).
The MPPT charge controller is typically 30% more efficient than standard PWM controllers and 10% more efficient to most other MPPT controllers.

This MPPT charge controller is programmed by Solar Illuminations as per your requirements and system ability.
Lighting control features illumination from dusk to dawn (where applicable), or on at dusk for X amount of hours then off, or on at dusk for X amount of hours, then off, then back on again for X amount of hours before dawn.
Dimming option (where applicable) allows the lighting to dim at any time during the illumination time.
The dimming option or any other illumination mode can be used in conjunction with motion activation (where applicable).
Dimming may be at any percentage from 1-99%.

Please note: Upon installation and power-up the controller goes into a 7 day evaluation mode where smart monitoring and configurations commence. Additional evaluation with self-managing adjustments may continue for up to 7 more days. This is all part of the smart feature that enables this intelligent controller to understand its use, the application, the surrounding environment and the current conditions. During this time some of its programmed features may differ temporarily. This is a perfectly normal process and must be accepted during that time. During this time the controller will adjust to the current condition and charge status of the batteries. It is therefore recommended that all batteries are 100% fully charged before connection using an appropriate battery charger. This may significantly reduce the evaluation mode time of 7+7 days to much less. The solar panel(s) should be connected to the MPPT charge controller first, followed by the fully charged batteries.

Installation
Easy to install.
All connections are simply plug & play.
Two special mounting frames are included to allow the solar panel to attach to a vertical or horizontal surface with two hole pre-drilled into each section of the frame.
A pair of triangle shaped support frames are supplied for the solar panel.
For up lighting from the ground, for sign lighting, we recommend fixing to a small, short wooden post (not included).
For attaching the light fitting directly to a round post or round pole we recommend using our clamp attachment kit (product code FL12).
May be wall mounted, possibly fixed to a pole or post or possibly to the ground to a flat, firm surface.
An optional pole mount kit can be purchased (part FL40) which enables the solar panel and/or battery box to attach to a round post or pole.
An optional support arm can be purchased (FL11) which enables the lamp to stand off the face of a sign.

Please Note: This product is a special order and is non-returnable except in the event of a fault (during its warranty period) when the product, once returned will be repaired or replaced.

The solar panel must be installed in a location where it can receive full direct sunshine (when available) and set facing South at about a 45-60 degree angle (where adjustment options allow). The solar panel must not be installed in a shaded or part shaded location and never indoors. The standard specifications of the system (particularly the solar panel Wattage and battery capacity) may need to be adjusted. These components are determined by your geographic location, power consumption (LED Wattage) and the total amount of hours of illumination time required. Such changes to the standard specifications may increase or decrease the cost shown. Please contact us for more information or assistance. The illumination time is estimated and subject to various factors including (but not limited to) geographic location, seasons, temperature, weather conditions & location of product etc. The illumination time of most solar lights can reduce during winter months when the weather is poor and the days are shorter. During this time insolation hours decrease accordingly. Shorter illumination time due to one or more of the above factors does not define the product as being ‘defective’ or ‘not as described’. All solar lights must be used in a completely dark location at night time otherwise they may not illuminate. Nearby strong lighting sources or ambient lighting may affect the operation of a solar light. This does not define the product as being 'defective' or 'not as described'. Please note, if you do not install or use this product for several months the battery may discharge naturally on its own. By allowing a battery to deep discharge it may cause irreversible damage as the battery may then lose the ability to recharge or hold a full charge. Although unlikely, we reserve the right to supply this product with any minor alterations or minor changes to the specifications (shown above by text description or by photographs) due to different supplies or product batches received, incorporating such product changes made by the manufacturer, without further notice.
