We offer an extensive range of stand-alone solar power systems engineered to meet almost any power requirement. These systems can be column mounted, ground mounted, roof mounted, or attached to a structure such as a wall or building. This particular system is designed to handle a maximum of 75Wh per day or less. Components such as the solar panel and batteries are 'sized' based upon several factors. Please contact a representative for assistance with assembling a custom solar power system for your application.

Remote solar power generation is a perfect solution for sites where there is no mains power or where mains power would be difficult or cost prohibitive. These systems are therefore ideal for telecommunications, security (including alarms, CCTV cameras and access control), safety, security and obstruction lighting, GPS and telemetry, utility meter reading and scientific monitoring, Wi-Fi and broadband, RFID systems, traffic control and monitoring, street and car park lighting, water flow control systems and monitoring, sign and billboard lighting, emergency and back-up power, construction site power, etc. Other applications include power for military bases, offshore islands, mines, exploration, border and security as well as providing general power for off-grid residential and commercial sites. Our unique, professional, commercial grade systems are designed, manufactured and assembled by us, in house. They are low maintenance, typically plug and play, fully self-contained and easy to install as either a temporary, semi-permanent, or permanent solution. Our systems are sized and engineered to meet customer requirements and based upon the geographic location of the site, the intended load upon the system, and typical usage, among other factors. Available in 12VDC, 24VDC, 36VDC, 48VDC, 120VAC, and 240VAC configurations. All of our systems are offered exclusively with MPPT charge controllers. We also offer hybrid systems that combine the use of a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) or Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT).

Popular Uses

This system is designed for low to medium power consuming devices. For applications requiring 24-hour operation the average load should be 3W or less. For applications requiring dusk to dawn operation the load should be 5W or less. This system can handle up to a 10A periodic load at either 12 Volts or 24 Volts.

Technical Specifications

Performance
Reliable, cost effective solar electric solution.
Operating voltage options include 12VDC, 24VDC. Other voltages are available by special order.
Includes a minimum of three days of autonomy (battery back-up).
Increased autonomy is available up to 10 days and beyond, as per customer requirements.

Load
This system is designed for low power devices.
For applications requiring 24-hour operation the average load should be 3W or less.

Solar Panel
The solar panel size and power required depends greatly on the installation location, the system load and customer’s requirements in respect to the typical load usage. Please contact Solar Illuminations for solar panel array sizing.
Range of solar panel power available between 10W and 10kW or more depending on system requirements.
For higher powered systems the solar panels will be supplied in a dual format, triple or multiple panel formats e.g. 200W = 2 x 100W panels.
Highly efficient monocrystalline or polycrystalline solar panel with aluminium frame, anti-aging, and encapsulated membrane.
Anti-reflective and anti-soiling surface reduces power losses from dirt and dust.
Certified to withstand high wind loads (340PSI) and snow loads (780PSI); and resistance to high salt and ammonia.
Typical solar panel life is up to approximately 30 years subject to environmental factors.
The dimensions of the solar panel can vary and is subject to the wattage and format supplied.
The solar panel(s) are supplied with a mounting system to allow attachment of the array to the top of a pole, side of a pole, ground or pad, roof or wall or structure as required.

Battery
Battery capacity is determined using many factors including the system load and power requirements, autonomy preferences, geographic location and climate, battery type, etc.
Please contact Solar Illuminations for correct battery bank sizing.
Systems will typically use AGM, Gel, or Lithium type deep cycle rechargeable batteries per the systems performance and/or customer’s requirements.
Battery capacity is selection is subject to system power and autonomy requirements.
Typical battery life is up to approximately 5-10 years subject to environmental factors and battery selection.

MPPT Charge Controller
All systems are supplied standard with the most advanced and sophisticated MPPT charge controller technology.
The MPPT charge controller automatically controls the solar panel power, battery charging, many of the charge controllers we offer also offer a load control feature.
Load control can be programmed in many ways and can be used to control automatic lighting activation, low voltage disconnect, dump loads when batteries reach full charge, and many other highly customizable features.
The controller is sized to meet system specifications single controllers offered from 10A to 100A, with array input voltages from 75V up to 250V.
Load output options for lighting include: dusk to dawn, single timed, dual timed, dimming option (with some LED drivers), and/or the ability of interface with motion detection, where required.

Supports real time data monitoring and 30-day data logged history (iPhone, Android devices) with optional interface and/or Bluetooth dongle.
Additional monitoring can be done using our compete monitoring kit which allows for remote monitoring of the system and a variety of auxiliary sensors from anywhere in the world.
All charge controllers utilize a multi stage adaptive charge algorithm with automatic temperature compensation.

Battery Enclosure
A lockable battery enclosure will accommodate the rechargeable batteries. (Padlock not included.)
The enclosure may be plastic (polycarbonate) or metal (stainless steel, galvanized steel or aluminum) and is determined by the system specifications and/or customer requirements.
A choice of battery box is available including NEMA rated types as well as UL listed etc.
The battery enclosure will be designed to attach to a round or square pole or to a vertical or horizontal surface such as a wall or concrete pad.
The dimensions and quantity of the battery enclosures are determined by the volume of the batteries that are required for the system.
For column mounting, the battery enclosure includes mounting plates with slots for U-bolts or stainless steel banding.
Most battery enclosures are a silver or grey colour finish. Custom colours by special order.

Inverter & Inverter/Chargers
All inverters are pure sine wave inverters.
Inverter systems can be supplied with single phase 120V AC, split phase 120V/240V, or 240V via optional transformer.
Most inverters are listed to the stringent requirements of UL458 for mobile applications and/or UL 1741 and CSA C22.2 #107.1-01 for renewable energy installations.
Inverter systems include over current protection on the DC connections. All AC connections will be the customer’s responsibility.
Over current protection can be implemented via breaker or catastrophic fuse depending on the current requirements of the specified inverter.

Top of Column Mounting
Our top of column mounting hardware is designed for a wide range of module sizes and array configurations.
Most mounts offer adjustable tilt angle and can allow for up to 18 modules on a single pole.
Typically, the supporting structure mounts onto schedule 40 or schedule 80 galvanized steel or aluminium pipe.
Pipe size and foundation requirements are based on several factors including the array surface area, maximum design wind speed, exposure category, soil type, expected tilt angle, and ground clearance.
Mounts are assembled using heavy gauge steel and aluminum construction and our systems utilize heavy duty stainless steel mounting hardware.

Side of Column Mounting
Our side of column mounting hardware is designed for a wide range of module sizes and array configurations.
Most mounts offer adjustable tilt angle and can allow for up to three full size modules on a single pole.
Typically, the supporting structure mounts onto schedule 40 or schedule 80 galvanized steel or aluminium pipe. We also offer Tower mounting options with multi clamp points.
Pipe size and foundation requirements are based on several factors including the array surface area, maximum design wind speed, exposure category, soil type, expected tilt angle, and ground clearance.
Mounts are assembled using heavy gauge steel and aluminium construction and our mounting systems utilize heavy duty stainless steel hardware.

Ground Mounting
Our ground mounting hardware is a universal solution for any size solar photovoltaic (PV) array.
Our easily adjustable tilt angle allows these mounts to support installations in a wide range of locations.
Our ground mounts can be used as a standalone unit or with multiple mounts in rows.
Ground mounts can hold from one panel to four panels per mount depending on the module width. Mounts are assembled using heavy gauge steel and aluminum construction and our mounting systems utilize heavy duty stainless steel hardware.
Designed to be pad mounted or foundation mounted. If multiple mounts are configured in one array then an integration beam can be used to lock all mounts together and to reduce the number of required foundations.

Roof Mounting
All roof mounting hardware is fully-certified, code-compliant throughout North America. Europe and beyond.
Our systems utilize quick mount rails that allow panels to clamp into place, they support a range of wind and snow conditions, while also minimizing penetration points.
Rails and brackets are made from structural aluminium. Hardware and clamps are made from stainless steel.
We offer flashing for shingle and metal roofing or non-penetration clamps for standing seam roofs.

Wall/Structure Mounting
Our wall mounting hardware is a universal solution for any size solar photovoltaic (PV) array.
Our easily adjustable tilt angle allows these mounts to support installations in a wide range of locations.
Our wall mounts can be used as a standalone unit or with multiple mounts in rows.
Wall mounts can hold from one panel to four panels per mount depending on the module width. Mounts are assembled using heavy gauge steel and aluminium construction and our mounting systems utilize heavy duty stainless steel hardware.

Mounting Pole/Pipe
Anchor mount and direct embedded solutions are available depending on the application requirements.
Choice of galvanized steel anchor base pole, Schedule 40 aluminium pipe or Schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe.
Schedule 80 pipe is also available by special order.
Anchor mount poles have a square flat base (flat plate) with pre-drilled holes for installation.
The square base of the pole is approximately 12.5" x 12.5" (320mm x 320mm).
Anchor bolts and two templates are included.
Anchor mount pole height available with a choice of heights from 10' (3M to 26' (8M) and other sizes available by special order.
Direct embedment piping and poles can be cut to size.

Wind Turbine
A compact, silent, lightweight vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) is perfect for use working alongside solar powered systems. Because a wind turbine can work during the hours of darkness, batteries can continue to be trickle charged when a solar panel becomes inoperable.
It can add valuable power to a system at any time of the day or night when wind exists greater than the cut-in speed of 9mph (4 meters per second).
This high quality, durable turbine features powder coated aluminum blades and stainless steel hardware. Maximum output is 70W or 150w depending on the selected model.
It is design for harsh environments and can handle wind speeds over 100mph.
The turbine features a brush-less motor, sealed bearings, and a completely modular design.
For all hybrid systems, we suggest using our overcharge protection circuitry; however, this wind turbine does not require an external charge control to be installed under normal conditions.
Due to the low Tip Speed Ratio of the turbine, the turbine output decreases naturally as the battery voltage increases and thus this provides a natural form of charge regulation.
