Our XP20 is a professional, commercial grade, solar powered LED festoon light system. This system is designed, engineered and made to order by Solar Illuminations. It is the only system of its kind in the world and is only available directly from us. It is ideal for residential or commercial use or for more demanding applications where there is a need for festive lighting or displays in public areas. No mains connection required. Perfect for temporary, semi-permanent, or permanent use.
A true, one-of-a-kind, solar powered festoon lighting system. Designed and built as a professional, commercial grade, bespoke or semi-bespoke solution. Ideal for sites where there is no mains power available or where it would be too difficult or cost prohibitive to make available. You can choose how you want this system to operate, how many LED light bulbs you want, how long the wired string needs to be, the LED bulb colours, and such like. It's very configurable and up to several strings can be integrated into one system. It's completely stand-alone, self-contained, using safe, low voltage 12V DC or 24V DC. The system includes a programmable MPPT charge controller, a suitable sized solar panel, and two 12 Volt rechargeable batteries. A metal lockable battery box is supplied to house the batteries and charge controller. The lockable battery box can be wall mounted or fixed to a post or pole. The solar panel can be situated next to the battery box or at a distance of up to several meters away. The charge controller will automatically activate the light string at dusk, and turn them off at dawn or the programmed amount of time. The charge controller can be programmed to automatically illuminate from dusk to dawn all year round which is as much as 16.5 hours in UK mid-winter. Or it can be programmed to automatically turn on the lights at dusk and operate for x hours then turn off (single timed mode) or automatically turn on the lights at dusk for x hours, turn off, then turn back on again for x hours before dawn (dual timed mode). Supplied as a complete system. Colour of light output is a choice of warm white (3,000k), daylight white (5,000k), or RGB (multi-colour). Sold as a single unit.

Choice of warm white (3,000k CCT), daylight white (5,000k CCT), or RGB (multi-colour).
Specific LED coloured bulbs are available by special order e.g. all red, all blue, all green, etc.
LED lighting pattern is constant on.
Flashing, twinkling, pulsing and other modes are available by special order.
Each light bulb string is supplied with approximately 5M of wiring before the first LED light bulb allowing connection to the battery enclosure.
Additional lead-in wire is available to order.
Battery
Two 12 Volt sealed lead acid batteries are included.
The battery size (capacity) will be determined by the total LED power (LED bulb quantity) and the required nightly illumination time.
Larger capacity battery options are available.
For help determining whether a larger battery is necessary, please contact our customer service department.
Safe, low voltage, 12V DC or 24V DC system.
Batteries must be connected together in series with 24V DC systems and in parallel for 12V DC systems.
Battery Box
A remote battery box is supplied to accommodate the batteries, and charge controller.
The battery box has a hinged lid which is lockable (padlock not included).
The battery box has sockets for the lights, and solar panel to connect to.

Dimensions including lid over-hang are approx. 40cm x 25cm x 22.5cm (15.75” x 9.88” x 8.88”).
Solar Panel
Supplied with an aluminium framed solar panel.
The solar panel size (wattage) will be determined by the total LED power (LED bulb quantity) and the required nightly illumination time.
Higher powered solar panel options are available. For help determining whether a solar panel upgrade is necessary, please contact our customer service department.
Solar panels may be supplied in a dual format (2 x 50W = 100W) and can be framed together as one.
Supplied with approximately 5m (17’) of cable to connect directly to the battery box.
Mounting frames are included to allow the solar panel to attach to a vertical or horizontal flat surface.
Each 50W solar panel dimensions approx. 67cm x 58cm x 3cm (26.38” x 22.83” x 1”) LxWxD.
Control Module
Supplied with a MPPT charge controller which automatically controls the solar panel power, battery charging and lighting function and operation.
Ultra fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT).
The MPPT charge controller is typically 30% more efficient than standard PWM controllers and 10% more efficient to most other MPPT controllers.
Additional efficiency for cloudy weather and during times of reduced sun radiation.
This controller features the very latest smart technology.
Provides extended battery life and extra protection against excessive battery discharge and overcharge.
Battery life algorithm operates 24/7.
Low voltage detection for automatic disconnect.
Continuous environment, input and output power management.
The controller is sized to the system specifications with 10A and 15A versions available (subject to solar panel wattage and battery capacity).

Maximum PV open circuit is 75V dc.
Please note: Upon installation and power-up the controller goes into a 7 day evaluation mode where smart monitoring and configurations commence. Additional evaluation with self-managing adjustments may continue for up to 7 more days. This is all part of the smart feature that enables this intelligent controller to understand its use, the application, the surrounding environment and the current conditions. During this time some of its programmed features may differ temporarily. This is a perfectly normal process and must be accepted during that time. During this time the controller will adjust to the current condition and charge status of the batteries. It is therefore recommended that all batteries are 100% fully charged before connection using an appropriate battery charger. This may significantly reduce the evaluation mode time of 7+7 days to much less. The solar panel(s) should be connected to the MPPT charge controller first, followed by the fully charged batteries.
Installation
Easy to install. All connections are simply plug & play.
A pair of triangle shaped support frames are supplied for the solar panel.
The solar panel must be installed in a location where it can receive full direct sunshine (when available) and set facing South at about a 45-60 degree angle (where adjustment options allow). The solar panel must not be installed in a shaded or part shaded location and never indoors. The standard specifications of the system (particularly the solar panel Wattage and battery capacity) may need to be adjusted. These components are determined by your geographic location, power consumption (LED Wattage) and the total amount of hours of illumination time required. Such changes to the standard specifications may increase or decrease the cost shown. Please contact us for more information or assistance. The illumination time is estimated and subject to various factors including (but not limited to) geographic location, seasons, temperature, weather conditions & location of product etc. The illumination time of most solar lights can reduce during winter months when the weather is poor and the days are shorter. During this time insolation hours decrease accordingly. Shorter illumination time due to one or more of the above factors does not define the product as being ‘defective’ or ‘not as described’. All solar lights must be used in a completely dark location at night time otherwise they may not illuminate. Nearby strong lighting sources or ambient lighting may affect the operation of a solar light. This does not define the product as being 'defective' or 'not as described'. Please note, if you do not install or use this product for several months the battery may discharge naturally on its own. By allowing a battery to deep discharge it may cause irreversible damage as the battery may then lose the ability to recharge or hold a full charge. Although unlikely, we reserve the right to supply this product with any minor alterations or minor changes to the specifications (shown above by text description or by photographs) due to different supplies or product batches received, incorporating such product changes made by the manufacturer, without further notice. Descriptions, specifications and photographs are updated regularly but may not be current when minor changes to a product have only recently been made.
